The two facts, kept apart
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It does not launch on PC that day. Rockstar has confirmed a PC version is coming later and has not attached a date, a window, or a platform list to it.
The company's stated reasoning is straightforward: consoles are where the overwhelming majority of its players are, so consoles come first.
Where 2028 comes from
It is not from Rockstar. It is arithmetic applied to precedent. GTA 5 shipped on consoles in September 2013 and reached PC in April 2015 — roughly eighteen months later. Apply the same gap to November 2026 and you land in mid-2028.
That is a reasonable guess and nothing more. Rockstar's PC gaps have varied across releases, and the studio has never committed publicly to repeating the pattern.
What this means if you are on PC
Practically: do not pre-order anything expecting a launch-day PC build, and treat any store listing or countdown claiming a PC date as unverified. The one thing worth watching is Take-Two's earnings language — platform expansion is exactly the kind of thing that gets telegraphed to investors before it gets announced to players.
